Tami Island is a relatively small island in the Huon Gulf, situated relatively near the PNG coast and east of Lae. The Tami people were great bowl makers, using these as trade objects with distant coastal communities.
This fine bird form bowl has a glossy handled patina to raised surfaces, with much of the lime infill and red pigment intact.
41 cm long (nr: 14 inches)
