Henricus (Henri) A.T. La Grand (1921-1978) studied art and ceramics with a personal interest in sculpture. Gaining experience with potter Emile Regout, and working in a commercial pottery while in the Netherlands before and after the Second World War, later immigrating to Australia in 1950 and settling in Sydney. In 1954 he gained employment with the East Sydney Technical College. The following year he transferred to the Canberra Technical College teaching ceramics.
His pottery is represented in the National Gallery of Australia and private collections.
